Dr Pissarides is Professor of Economic at the London School of Economics (LSE). He won the 2010 Nobel Prize in Eonomic Science (read Dr Pissarides homepage - here).

The First Power Project for Malaysia will assist in financing the construction of a 79,300 KW hydroelectric power station located about 100 miles north of Kuala Lumpur in the Cameron Highlands area of the Federation of Malaya. It is the first stage of a scheme to develop the power potential in a group of streams on the Cameron Highlands plateau. It will utilize the waters of the Kial, Telom, Habu and Bertram rivers and, within an overall distance of approximately 15 miles, discharge the outfall into the Batang Padang river.

The stamp "Freedom from Hunger" for Malaya in 1963 was issued as part of a worldwide campaign by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to raise public awareness of global hunger and encourage action to solve it. As a participating country, Malaya issued these stamps to support the campaign's goal of collecting funds and coordinating efforts to combat world hunger.

Free Primary Education was launched in Malaya in 1962. The program was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and implemented in all government-aided primary schools starting Jato provide nuary 1st 1962. This move fulfilled a pledge made in 1956 and was based on recommendations from the Rahman Talib Report. The aim is to provide primary education for all children regardless of their chosen  language of instruction.

Thailand became a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) on July 1st, 1885. This enabled it to provide International postal services under the same rules as other Union members. Someone who played an important role in helping Thailand to become a member of the UPU was H.H. Prince Prisdang, who was, at the time, a Thai Ambassador to Europe.
