Afghanistan - The 2002 Stamps

Afghanistan was at one time a ruined country. Tribes clashes and power struggles are the order of the day. on the international front it was bugged with the intervention by foreign power. Russia and the USA always posed an unstability to the power equation to Afghanistan. It was made worst by the neighbouring countries.



Afghanistan National Hero - Ahmad Shah Masoud (issued on 8 May 2002)

By 2002 the situation has changed somewhat. The country was moving into international assimilation. This could be seen by the example of its postal agency sharing the information on its stamps to the world's public. Afghanistan has issued four special stamps in 2002. The first stamp issued in 2002 was under the theme of famous people depicting the image of an Afghan National Hero - Ahmad Shah Masoud.

Afghan Post noted in this stamp that history is crying for the destruction of Bamiyan Buddha statue.

Human Rights Declaration (issued on 10 Dec 2002)


According to Afghan Post this stamp was issued to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the universal declaration of human rights.
