The 1994 Visconti Federico II is a limited edition fountain pen authorized by the Federico II Foundation. To celeberates the 800th anniversary of the emperor's birth.

In 1994 Visconti issued a limited edition dedicated to Federico II, the famous king who was born in 1194 and was dubbed as "stupor mundi" (wonder of the world). 

This Visconti Federico II limited edition is dedicated to the Kingdom of Jerusalem and it is enriched with a beautiful clip with the engraving of Federico's date of birth (1194) on one side and the year of introduction of the limited edition (1994) on the other side.

Hand turned from the world’s finest celluloid.  Green, Blue, Blonde (Pearl/Black), Cinnabar (Orange/Black). Unique curved gold clip enhances the distinctive variegated finishes. Styling is reminiscent of the 1920s-30’s golden age of fountain pens.  Also styled after Visconti’s popular Ragtime model.

Released in the early 1990s (often cited as 1993/1994), this series represented the four seasons (Primavera, Estate, Autunno, Inverno).

The pens are based on the Ragtime model, featuring a mix of materials. For example, the Autunno (Autumn) version is noted for a burgundy resin barrel with a mosaic pattern celluloid cap and blind cap.

Visconti honors the Alhambra Palace which has often been referred to as the “eighth wonder of the world” by reason of its unique architecture and artistic ornamentation. On the highest point in Granada, Spain, rise the red walls and towers which surround Alhambra, the “Red Palace”.

The Tuscan red ebonite exemplifies the red walls and towers which protected the Palace through centuries of enemy attacks.

Made in 1993 to honor and support the Uffizi Museum in Florence, which had been flooded and seriously damaged. Part of the proceeds were donated to the Uffizi Museum.

The pen is made in Sterling silver 925 filigree overlay on beautiful blue/green crushed ice celluloid. It is number 215/500. The nib is solid gold 18Kt 750, broad in size.

In 1992 Visconti issued a special limited edition to celebrate 500 years from the discovery of America.

The limited edition was composed of a series of three pens in celluloid, in three different colors; each of them was dedicated to one of the three vessels Colombo used to sail the Ocean.

The pens were named: Nina (brown striated), Pinta (light blue) and Santa Maria (purple); Visconti produced 500 pieces  for each color. The cap top of each  color shows the name of the pen.
