The 2007 Pelikan Evolution of Script is a limited edition fountain pen. Designed to celebrate the history of writing from cave paintings to the Greek alphabet. It is the first in the "Achievements of Civilization" series.
This was the first, and now part of a small series, of Pelikan M9000 fountain pens dedicated to human achievements, followed by the "Calculation of Times" (2008) and "Fire" (2010).
Pelikan is celebrating this quantum leap in the history of human civilisation with a new limited edition. The first fountain pen of this series bears the name "Evolution of Script". With this, Pelikan is looking back to the origins of writing thousands of years ago: from the cave paintings that were the precursors of writing, via the invention of hieroglyphics in Egypt and Mesopotamian cuneiform, to the development of the Greek alphabet as the point of departure for European scripts.
