Antara saluran media yang digunakan oleh gerakan al-Asya`irah untuk menyerang pemikiran gerakan Salafiyyah contohnya, seperti majalah Milenia, seminar Ahli Sunnah wal Jamaah yang bermotokan: ”katakan tidak pada wahabi”, laman sesawang seperti alsubki2.blogspot.com, salafiwahhabi.blogspot.com, alghari.blogspot.com, yayasansofa.com dan lain-lain lagi.

Sementara saluran media gerakan Salafiyyah seperti Majalah i, Seminar Ahli Sunnah wal Jamaah Golongan Tauladan, Seminar Antarabangsa Mengenai Syeikh Muhammad `Abdul Wahab, laman-laman sesawang seperti hafizfirdaus.com, alnidaa.com, drmaza.com dan lain-lain lagi.

Antara tokoh yang terlibat dalam pertentangan antara dua gerakan ini secara terbuka di Malaysia ialah Muhammad Uthman El-Muhammady, Ustaz Zamihan al-Ghari, Ustaz Haji Mahfuz Bin Muhammad al-Khalil, Ustaz Hj. Ahmad Hafiz Bin Hj. Muhammad Alwi, Fuad Kamaluddin al-Maliki dan lain-lain lagi yang mewakili gerakan alAsya`irah.

Sementara golongan yang mempelopori gerakan Salafiyyah ialah nama-nama seperti Dr. Abdullah Yasin, Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, Dr. Azwira Abdul Aziz, Hafiz Firdaus Abdullah dan lain-lain lagi yang mewakili gerakan Salafiyyah.

Ulama Pendokong Al-Asya'irah

Gerakan al-Asya`irah ialah golongan sunni yang dinisbahkan kepada pengasasnya, iaitu Abu Hasan al-Asy`ari (874 – 936M). Mereka muncul dalam masyarakat Islam pada awal kurun keempat Hijrah. Pendekatan yang mereka ambil ialah memurnikan hubungan antara nas dan akal, seperti yang digambarkan oleh Imam al-Ghazali, nas itu ibarat cahaya matahari dan akal pula seumpama mata yang sempurna. Gerakan al-Asya`irah menjadikan akal sebagai khadam kepada nas dan tidak menjadikan akal sebagai hakim yang menentukan segala-galanya, seperti golongan Mu`tazilah

Tokoh-tokoh besar yang menjadi pengikut gerakan al-Asya`irah adalah alBayhaqi (994–1066), al-Ghazali (1058-1111), Ibn `Asakir (1106-1175), Fakhr al-Razi (1150-1210), al-Qurtubi (1214-1273), al-Nawawi (1234-1278), Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalani (1372-1448), al-Suyuti (1445-1505) dan lain-lain lagi. 

Sementara tokoh-tokoh masa kini seperti Dr. Muhamad Hasan Hitu, Dr. Muhamad Sa`id Ramadan al-Buti, Dr. `Ali Juma`ah, Dr. Wahbah al-Zuhaili dan lain-lain lagi.

Satu budaya orang Arab yang kadang kala dibincang adalah menjaga salasilah keluarga. Mereka gemar merekod susur galur keluarga dan berusaha merekod genealogi keturunan mereka. Terdapat beberapa rekod genealogi orang Arab yang boleh dijadi rujukan. Antaranya adalah;

Nota - Jamharat al-Nasab of Ibn al-Kalbi [attempt to present a comprehensive genealogy of the Arabs and it thus stands in contrast to al-Zubayr b. Bakkar 'family history', focused on the Zubayyrids within the Bani Asad b.Abd al-Uzza b. Qusayy].

Berikut beberapa lagi review dan kritikan terhadap buku Hagarism.

Hagarism: The Story of a Book Written by Infidels for Infidels. Artikel empat muka surat oleh Ali Khan, Legal Scholar Academy (researchgate - link).

Petikan:

The book titled Hagarism: The Making of the Islamic World questions just about everything Muslims believe as historical truths. It challenges the common belief that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over a period of 22 years (610-632) in Mecca and Medina. Instead, the book contends that the Quran was composed, possibly in Syria or Iraq, more than fifty years after the Prophet’s death, projected back in time, and attributed to the Prophet. The Quran, according to the book, was fabricated during the reign of Caliph Abdul Malik (685-705) to legitimize an expanding empire. The book also contends that the word "Muslim" was invented in the 8th century to replace the word Muhajirun (immigrants), which was the original name of the Arab community that conquered Palestine and built the Dome of the Rock.
