The Suramadu Bridge connects Surabaya (Java Island) to town of Bangkalan (on Madura Island). The bridge is 5.4 km in length, the longest in Indonesia. Construction started Aug 2003

On May 25, 2010 Australia Post has a released a set of new stamp themed Australian World Hertitage Sites. The set consists of six stamps including one depicting the Gondwana Rainforests.

Switzerland - International Year of Biodiversity

Year 2010 was announced by the UN as the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB). Such announcement is expected to be followed by issuing of special stamps to commemorate the IYB by many countries. The Switzerland Post has came out as the first postal authority to do so.

The Swiss Post has declared to launch a special stamp on IYB on March 4, 2010.

The Elephant

Namibia Post has issued a special stamp series on the World Heritage theme. The stamp contains three stamps highlighting the World Heritage site Twyfelfontein located at Namibia. The stamps launching date was June 27, 2008.

A little bit about Twyfelfontein (source - worldheritagesite)

Twyfelfontein or /Ui-//aes contains 2,000 figures of rock carvings. The figures were created over a couple of thousand years before 1000 AD. The hunter-gatherers who lived in the region created them as part of their rituals. The carvings represent rhinoceroses, elephants, ostrichs and giraffes as well as depictions of human and animal footprints. Some of the figures notably the "Lion Man" depict the transformation of humans into animals.

The UN has set in its calendar designated January 27 in every year as the International Day to commemorate the Holocaust.
