Issued by Pos Malaysia on December 20, 2012, the Postal History of Kedah stamp series commemorated 100 years of stamps and postal services in the state of Kedah. The release highlighted the issuance of the state's very first stamps and the opening of its first post office in Alor Setar in 1887.
It celebrated the 1912 introduction of the first Kedah-specific stamps (which featured a rice sheaf, a peasant with a buffalo, and a government building), following the state's transfer from Siamese administration in 1909.
