Urwah ibn al-Zubayr رضي الله عنه was among the seven fuqaha (jurists) who formulated the fiqh of Medina in the time of the Tabi‘in and one of the Muslim historians.

The Palace of Urwah ibn Zubayr is situated on a high hill overlooking the banks of Wadi Al-Aqiq in the west of Madinah. It tells a story of challenge and resilience against the forces of nature. The palace is considered one of the most famous historical palaces built along the banks of Wadi Al-Aqiq and is located along the road leading to the Dhu al-Hulayfah Mosque, "Miqat Ahl Al-Madinah." It is about 3.5 km from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.
The castle of Urwah, also known as the Castle of Urwah was discovered and excavated in 2013.
