Malaysia issued a commemorative stamp in 2001 to celebrate Putrajaya becoming the country's third Federal Territory. The stamp was created to mark the city's transition into the new administrative center of the federal government, a major milestone in Malaysian history envisioned by then-Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
