France has followed Afghanistan acknowledging Masoud as hero in a stamp. The stamp was issued on 10 September 2003. The date was chosen probably as to commemorate Masoud's 5oth anniversary.

France - Ahmad Shah Masoud
Ahmad Shah Masoud was known as Afghanistan National Hero. He was recognized so by Afghan Post which has issued a stamp depicting his image. Masoud was killed in 2001 in the height of power struggle in Afghanistan at that time. He was assassinated on September 9, 2001 (two days before the historic date of Sept 11, 2001).
